Bangkok is known as the "City of Angels" and "Sin City of Asia", intertwining two opposing identities through unconventional and various design elements shown through contrast and forced tension.
Throughout the project you will see the most extreme concept development through the downstair burlesque bar portraying the idea of 'being grounded' this is shown by using strong, rough materials, dark colors, and built in furniture. On the opposite side of the spectrum is the rooftop bar, this is meant to give the idea of 'weightlessness' and is shown through organic, glowing shapes, swinging furniture, and water features.

Beginning in the grounded area, home to a captivating burlesque bar, deep, rich colors and raw, textural materials greet guests, setting a mood of intrigue and seduction. As one ascends through the seven levels, a gradual metamorphosis takes place, with each floor growing “lighter and airier” than the last. The journey culminates on the rooftop, where the weightless theme
is fully realized, offering a breathtaking and open atmosphere. This thoughtfully designed floorplan encapsulates the essence of contrasting identities, guiding visitors through an immersive experience that seamlessly transitions from the earthy and substantial to the ethereal and weightless.
As an experiential hostel, guests download the OI app upon arrival and take a test to determine their assigned experience based on the results. The app then allows users to control amenities within their pod or room and
facilitates an easy check-in and checkout process with minimal or no employee interaction.
The pods were designed to ensure maximum privacy for each individual. This is accomplished through a private door for access to the upper level, and a 'garage' door to enclose the lower level. The user must scan their key through the app. The upper and lower level pods have individual storage built in. The upper pods have built in shelving along the left and backside for
luggage and larger items, as well as small built-in shelving beside their bed for easy access. The lower bunk has storage on the outer area of the pod, but is able to open the shelf covering through the app. The interior shelving beside the bed is the same as the upper pod.
